Onam Sadya





Sadya laden plates... so inviting... for this year's sadya I made sambar, thoran, aviyal, pineapple pachadi, kootcurry, olan, pulinji, naranga pickle, kalan, kerala papad with rice offcourse. I also made idlis for variety, so desiced to call it fusion sadya!! Offourse to finish off there was ari payasam...my panjabi friends loved the pachadi, kalan and pulinji so posting recipes soon...

Welcome aboard, what a fabulous spread ! Belated happy Onam to you and your family. Ragi is finger millet. You will find ragi grains and flour in almost all Indian stores. You can make many dishes including the porridge that we make in Kerala, using this flour. Wish you all the best.

I am sorry, I didn't see your comment on my recipe blog.. Ragi is Millet..Did you buy Ragi flour? It is light purple in colour.
With ragi flour, U can make dosai...( soak 1/2 cup rice and 3/4 cup urad dhal.. Grind well, add 1 cup of ragi flour, keep for fermenting for 8 hours..make ragi dosai.. U can also make porridge 6 tbl spn in 1 lit of milk, cook till thickened, add sugar and a pinch of salt

archana - thanks for the welcome, made ragi with jaggery for the baby, turned out ok, although even after trying maize, rice and now ragi, my baby seems to hate all cereals, loves mashed fruit so only having that now...

rp - yeah wanted to blog about sadya recipes, although had ona sadya the saturday of onam week.

IIC - yah I bought ragi flour, that somehow looks like crushed mustard without the yellow color, Ragi dosa!! wow cant wait to try it, will let u know how it turned out!
